Besieged - Mindslave / Subjective Reality  | | The new self-titled 2 song Besieged EP is an absolute monster of a release. Right from the get go the riffs are chaotic as all hell and then you have insane, scorching solos that flow along and add a wondrous depth to the already bottomless insanity. And the drums? Well the drums sound like they are being beat like the proverbial red headed step child. Mindslave is the track that starts things off in such a glorious fashion and what really sets it off is the unbelievable Incubus vibe that surrounds the vocals. Subjective Reality follows it up in equally devastating fashion. There is nothing old school about his release but that is ok. Besieged are taking the genre of death/thrash into the next generation as they clearly show their dominance with this release. Consider if you will the influence of Incubus and combine it with the chaos contained in albums such as Deicide "Legion" (albeit a thrashier version), Malevolent Creation's "Retribution", and even Napalm Death's "Scum" as there is an undeniable vibe of grindcore chaos in the 2 tracks on this EP.
